Ok, that’s not a politically correct statement. Unfortunately, someone forgot to tell this to God. In reading the first part of Leviticus 27, God outlines the approved sale prices for male and female slaves at different ages. Consistently, the male is valued higher than a female - typically it is a two to one ratio.
I suppose that back in Bible times, when hard labor was the mainstay, that a male was able to generate more revenue than a female who most likely worked in the house. Actually, I just remembered that women worked in the fields, too. Again, I’m going to have to assume that since males are generally physically stronger, they are able to work faster and longer, which would generate more revenue. Have I offended anyone? (more…)
