Jacob moved his family to Egypt where his son Joseph was second in command. After Joseph died a new Pharaoh arose who didn’t know Joseph. When in a group of people, it is not uncommon for someone to receive more attention. This person may be good looking, more intelligent, wealthier, more important or simply more interesting. Being more important seems to be quite common in our society. There is always someone more important. On Wednesday in the Denver Post I read the story about Tim Evans, a Catholic priest that was indicted for allegedly sexually assaulting a teen. The affidavit indicated that Evans was also accused of two other sexual liaisons. I found this story very disturbing and it made me start thinking about sexual immorality and the terrible things that are happening all around us.
First and foremost, everyone needs Jesus to change their hearts as we all suffer from a disease called sin. Mark 7:21-23 says, “For from within, out of men’s hearts, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, greed, malice, deceit, lewdness, envy, slander, arrogance and folly. All these evils come from inside and make a man ‘unclean.” (more…)
