Choose God Daily

Sunday, April 30th, 2006

When we surrender our lives to God, he takes possession of our heart.  A change is brought about that is impossible without God.  It is important that we surrender our lives to God on a daily basis.  If we decide not to choose God, we automatically choose Satan.  You see, it is not necessary for us to intentionally choose Satan.

It is possible for us to temporarily drop bad habits by our own self will.  Unfortunately, without a changed heart, which only God can bring, we will eventually fall.  We must continually stay connected to God or we will end up unintentionally carrying out Satan’s will. (more…)

He Holds the Keys to Death

Saturday, April 29th, 2006

I remember as a child standing in front of my grandfather’s casket asking God to wake my grandfather so that everyone would be happy again.  God didn’t answer that prayer and I didn’t know why.

Today I was reading a story found in Luke 7:11-17.  This is an incredible story.  Jesus was walking with his disciples when coming toward him was a large crowd of mourners carrying a casket holding a widow’s only son.  When Jesus saw the mother he felt very sad for her and said, “Don’t cry”.  Jesus then slowly walked up to the casket and placed his hand on the side and said, “Young man, I tell you, get up!”  Immediately, the son sat up in the coffin and started talking.  Jesus picked up the son and handed him to his mother. Are you feeling lost?

Saturday, April 29th, 2006

When Satan tells you that you are a sinner with no hope, you tell him that Christ came into the world to save sinners.  Please don’t ever forget this.

Wow! This verse helps me have an eternal perspective.

Saturday, April 29th, 2006

“The Lord himself will come down from heaven with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. And those who have died believing in Christ will rise first.  After that, we who are still alive will be gathered up with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air.  And we will be with the Lord forever.  1 Thessalonians 4 16,17.

Listening to God is only the First Step

Friday, April 28th, 2006

“No one can serve to masters.  The person will hate one master and refuse to follow the other.  You cannot serve both God and worldly riches.” Matthew 6:24.

When we choose to follow God, it must be with our entire heart.  We cannot listen to the truth and then cherry pick the parts we like.  We are like a fabric of cloth that needs to be completely saturated by the dye.  If we follow God with a wavering spirit or halfhearted effort, we will actually be choosing darkness.  In fact, if we cherish one secret sin that we are unwilling to turn over to God, our whole body will be contaminated.  (more…)

God’s Holy Law

Thursday, April 27th, 2006

It is not uncommon for people to call themselves Christians simply because they subscribe to theoretical beliefs.  If a person merely professes faith in truth; however, there is no change in their lives, it is likely they are not a Christian.  A sinful person can only become righteous as they have faith in God and maintain a relationship.

The worst times in this world’s history resulted from the crimes of self-proclaimed Christians who committed heinous acts in the name of the Lord.  Similarly, the rabbis of Jesus’ time claimed to be holy simply because they kept the law; but their actions clearly demonstrated that righteousness did not play a part in their religion.  Ultimately, they murdered Jesus.  (more…)

Are You Being Persecuted?

Wednesday, April 26th, 2006

“Those who are treated badly for doing good are happy, because the kingdom of heaven belongs to them. People will insult you and hurt you.  They will lie and say all kinds of evil things about you because you follow me.  But when they do, you will be happy.”  Matthew 5:10, 11.

Most of the world loves sin and hates holiness.  This is what caused Jesus so much trouble when he was living here.  Everyone who rejects Jesus will find Christianity extremely annoying.  And those who cling to sin will war against truth and those who follow Jesus.  There will come a time when God’s people will be blamed for all the problems of this world.  (more…)

Oatmeal soap as a cure for vaginal itching

Tuesday, April 25th, 2006

My sister came to visit me and forgot to bring her own soap. I was just learning about making my own soap and gave her a bar of Honey Oatmeal Soap I had just made. She used it a few days and took the rest home. A few days later I got an email saying the oatmeal soap had cured the vaginal itch she had suffered from for years and she suggested I market it as an “anti-crotch itch” remedy. Here is the recipe: (more…)

The Sermon on the Mount (Part I)

Tuesday, April 25th, 2006

“Those people who know they have great spiritual needs are happy, because the kingdom of heaven belongs to them”.  Matthew 5:3.  Jesus can do nothing for us until we recognize our own weakened spiritual condition.  We must give our will to God and then he can change our hearts.  Once this happens, we will be happy. Judas’ Hardened Heart

Monday, April 24th, 2006

The disciples were very anxious to have Judas join their group.  Judas had a commanding presence combined with a strong executive ability.  The disciples were already disappointed that Jesus did not form an alliance with the leaders of Israel and now they had found someone that could help Jesus take his government to the next level.
